Trends this week:
Several stores have specials on roasts or stews, which are perfect for using in a slow cooker for a simple autumn meal. It's an easy way to cook a meal while you do something else!
Nearly every store has pasta and sauce on sale, so that's an inexpensive second meal or a way to stock your cupboards, or to buy something to share with a Food Pantry.

I spent some time in our garden today, picking tomatoes, green onions and a little of the second crop of cilantro. I chopped all of those, added the juice of a fresh lime, a little salt, and pressed some garlic into the mixture and now we have a sort of pico de gallo. Now, we need some tortilla chips!
